{"id":10384,"date":"2019-10-22T12:59:34","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T07:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/?p=10384"},"modified":"2025-02-21T13:30:29","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T08:00:29","slug":"gene-therapy-funding-update-exegenesis-bio-raises-10-million-led-by-k2-venture-partners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/gene-therapy-funding-update-exegenesis-bio-raises-10-million-led-by-k2-venture-partners\/","title":{"rendered":"Gene Therapy Funding Update: Exegenesis Bio raises $10 Million led by K2 Venture Partners"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gene therapy company, Exegenesis Bio has become one of the recent players to receive funding in the therapy space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinabiotoday.com\/articles\/exegenesis-10-million\">media statement<\/a>, the company has completed fundraising of over 70 million yuan ($10 million), led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.k2vc.com\/en\/venture\">K2 Venture Partners<\/a> and joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/kaitaicapital.com\/\">Kaitai Capital<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legendstar.com.cn\/home\/about?lang=en\">Legend Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company was founded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/zhenhua-wu-a646aa14\/\">Dr. Zhenhua Wu<\/a> who has served as a chief executive officer for GSK, Merck &amp; Co., Inc., United Neuroscience, NeuExcell Therapeutics, and Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/zhenhua-wu-a646aa14\/\">Dr. Wu<\/a>, t<span class=\"lt-line-clamp__raw-line\">he company&#8217;s founding members have an average of 15 years\u2019 experience in cell and therapy and have served an executive function in several well-known US gene therapy companies.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"lt-line-clamp__raw-line\"> In addition, the team has balanced experience expanding from preclinical research, clinical development to process development and GMP production.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As per a recent report by Roots Analysis, there have been close to 300 funding instances in the gene therapy space, since 2014.
