These involve isolation of&nbsp;T-cells, which are&nbsp;modified to express a synthetic receptor that enables them to recognize tumor-specific antigens and mount an immune response against cells bearing such antigens. Initial efforts in this domain were focused on the development of a CAR-T therapy against the CD19 receptor found on B-cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How many approved CAR-T therapies are available:<\/strong>&nbsp;We currently have 2 approved&nbsp;products, namely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/vaccines-blood-biologics\/cellular-gene-therapy-products\/kymriah-tisagenlecleucel\">KYMRIAH<\/a>\u00ae (Novartis) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/news-events\/press-announcements\/fda-approves-car-t-cell-therapy-treat-adults-certain-types-large-b-cell-lymphoma\">YESCARTA<\/a>\u00ae (Gilead Sciences).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How many CAR-T therapies are in development:<\/strong>&nbsp;There are currently more than 530+ CAR-T therapies in development.
