The rise in this popularity has come with its own challenges, a number of which were identified in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/reports\/viral-vectors-non-viral-vectors-and-gene-therapy-manufacturing-market-\/274.html\">recent report<\/a> by Root Analysis. The challenges vary from the high cost of manufacturing to low capacity. In fact, the Roots Analysis team interviewed several stakeholders to understand their perspective about the key challenges in the vector manufacturing market. The key points from the interviews have been highlighted in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/2020\/01\/02\/vector-manufacturing-market-opinion-leaders-highlight-key-concerns\/\">article<\/a>. In fact, we have seen several players invest heavily in enhancing their vector manufacturing capacity. However, one other area that has silently emerged as a <em>potentially hot topic&nbsp;<\/em>is the novel vectors (beyond traditional AAV vectors).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, the vector manufacturing market is dominated by viral vectors, such as those based on AAV, adenovirus, lentivirus, and retrovirus. However, certain non-viral vectors, such as plasmid DNA, also hold a considerable share. Roots Analysis, in their report, talked about the rise of these non-viral vectors and identified the key emerging vectors types. Some of the vectors highlighted in the report are &#8211;&nbsp;alphavirus, Anc80 vector, <em>B. longum<\/em>, <em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em>, minicircle DNA, myxoma virus, Sendai virus, self-complementary vectors (which are essentially improved versions of AAV vectors) Sleeping Beauty transposon-based non-viral vectors, and Vaccinia virus-based vectors.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Upcoming-Vector-Types-Roots.webp\" alt=\"Virus-based or bacteria based or DNA based upcoming vectors in the market\" class=\"wp-image-17472\" style=\"object-fit:contain;width:800px;height:318px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Upcoming-Vector-Types-Roots.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Upcoming-Vector-Types-Roots-300x119.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.rootsanalysis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Upcoming-Vector-Types-Roots-768x305.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, several&nbsp;players in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Biopharmaceutical\">biopharmaceutical<\/a> industry have already begun using some of the novel vector types mentioned above for the development of their respective pipeline therapy candidates. Here are the excerpts from some of the interviews:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<i>We believe that a few novel vectors, having low <\/i><i>immunogenicities<\/i><i> and targeting different cell types, are likely to soon be introduced into the market.&nbsp; I am also aware of companies that are researching different (better) versions of adeno-associated viral vectors.&#8221; &#8211;&nbsp;<\/i><i>Executive &amp; Scientific Officer,&nbsp;<\/i><i>A small-sized company based in Belgium<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<i>We have worked with a couple of transposons and the Vaccinia viruses as vectors, the latter cannot exactly be regarded as a novel approach.
