It is also worth highlighting that companion diagnostics (CDX) guided drug development efforts have been estimated to help reduce clinical trial costs by almost 60%. Since the approval of the HercepTest (in 1998) for identifying patients for treatment with trastuzumab, over 50 CDX have been developed for various drugs. Several companies have undertaken initiatives to develop biomarker-based therapeutics for other disease indications, such as infectious diseases, neurological disorders and metabolic disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have highlighted below some of the most interesting insights from our study.
